F.O. 219.26 PASSES UNANiMOUSLY

After several months of working group meetings with DNR fisheries staff and fellow stakeholder groups beginning in January of 2025 and concluding in July. The DNR delivered a "status quo" recommendation in September based on the feedback from the members in the working group. After which a great number of MSA members gave testimony to the Natural Resources Commission. After which the NRC drafted an amendment to expand boundaries for underwater spearfishing anglers. This amendment was tabled until the November 6th meeting at which point the members of the commission passed it unanimously.

DNR | Fisheries Division

The Fisheries Division of the DNR is the number one advisor to the NRC. The NRC does not move anything forward without receiving their input. The Fisheries Division gives recommendations to the NRC based on input from their biologist staff, data from a variety of surveys and studies, fishing associations, citizen advisory groups and public input. All these are factors for the Fisheries Division to consider before making recommendations to the NRC.
